Swiss Climate Scores

 

 

 

 

As part of Switzerland’s commitment to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 and align with the Paris Agreement, the Swiss Federal Council launched the Swiss Climate Scores in 2022.

The Scores provide investors with comparable and meaningful information on the extent to which their investments are compatible with international climate goals. They aim to establish best-practice transparency while promoting investment decisions that contribute to achieving these climate goals. Adoption by investors is voluntary.

The Scores are based on six indicators:

1. GHG emissions
2. Exposure to fossil-fuel activities
3. Global warming alignment
4. Verified commitments to net zero
5. Credible climate stewardship
6. Management to net zero

 

The Scores sit alongside the Ordinance on Climate Disclosures, which requires large Swiss companies to disclose carbon emissions, their reduction targets and plans to achieve them from 1 January 2024.
